Frequently Asked Questions
- Can a participant still have an HSA with GroupHRA?
Yes! Reimbursements for some expenses will be withheld until the employee meets their HSA deductible ($1,100 individual/$2,200 family in 2007). Vision, Dental, Wellness, and expenses from accidents will receive first-dollar reimbursement (no deductible).
- How can we raise the deductible on our group policy?
Contact your insurance broker and ask for a quote on a higher deductible to get started with GroupHRA.
- Do we have to wait for the end of our Plan Year?
No, most carriers will allow you to raise your deductible once during each Plan Year. If not, consider switching carriers mid-year.
- If I raise the group deductible won't my employees complain?
Not if you also provide a GroupHRA that provides zero-deductible reimbursement for most out-of-pocket expenses.
- What does it cost to use GroupHRA?
After the costs of GroupHRA are taken into account, most employers report net savings of 25-35% (see example).
